Sir Knight Tom

Here is a little lesson on the Knights of Columbus~

They are the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. They are dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Each of these being a different degree that the gentlemen can move up through. Charity is the foremost principal. One example is the $10 million given to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The largest annual recipient is Special Olympics. Tom's council (Eugene Teatum Council #6696) gave over $12,000 this year to the Rio Rancho Special Olympics.

Tom, my love, became a 4th degree Knight on June 22. (Only 18% of Knights become 4th degree.) Fourth degree Knights foster the spirit of patriotism. Only these men acquire the full regalia as they join the Assembly's Color Corps. The official dress includes a tuxedo, baldric (holds the sword), white gloves, cape and naval chapeau (the colorful fancy hat). The knights wear this get up for ceremonies of all sorts, including funerals.
Some notable Knights include John F. Kennedy, Vince Lombardi, and Babe Ruth.

So, congratulations my incredible husband. We are proud of you.....even if your ulterior motive is to get a sword!
