Due to a super-cold streak during the dreary winter, some plants and trees around here aren't making their happy come-back this spring. We had to top my Texas White Bud. I know it is highly controversial among arborists. We just didn't have a choice. I hope it survives.
On a lighter note, can you see the sweet little praying mantis on my pomegranate bush (also not looking too lively - the bush, not the insect)?

We lost all of our rosemary bushes but two and several other bushes as well. We're also concerned that our chaste tree and New Mexico bird of paradise may not make it, but we'll wait as they are late bloomers.
It was a touch winter.
